How to assign an additional site administrator/moderator?

1. Go to Admin Area > Users > Moderators

2. Scroll down to the Add New Moderator section.

3. Enter the Username of the user you want to make the site administrator.

4. Click Make Moderator.

The Moderators section contains a table with a list of active plugins and permissions for the site administrators/moderators.

You can enable/disable permissions for a moderator.

For example, to assign a moderator for managing users' profiles¹⁾, follow the steps below:

1. Make the user a site moderator via Add New Moderator section.

2. Uncheck all permissions for this moderator, except Admin.

3. Click Save.

Note: To assign a site administrator with all privileges, check the Admin box for this moderator.

Note: The checkboxes for the site creator (super administrator) are always checked, and there is no possibility to disable them. Thus, the website creator will always have full site access.

If the site moderator is allowed to moderate the photos, they will be able to edit, delete, mark a photo as featured.

If the site moderator can moderate the users, they will have the Moderation link on the Profile view and will be able to give credits, change role, mark as featured, suspend, delete a user.

The Moderator will have the Edit profile details link on the profile view. If they click the link, they will be able to edit the user's details or delete the user.

How can I remove the site administrator?

1. You should go to Admin Area > Users > Moderators

2. Uncheck the Admin checkbox for the moderator you want to remove.

3. Click Save.

4. Click the cross icon in the column of the moderator you want to remove.

How to invite friends to join the site?

There are two ways to invite new users/friends to the site:

1. Invitation by site administrator

To invite new members using their email addresses, go to Admin Area > Users.

There you will see the Invite new members button.

1. Click the Invite new members button

2. Insert the list of email addresses (one per line)

3. Click Invite.

2. Invitation by site users

To enable the invite friends feature for users, the site administrator should install and configure the Contact Importer plugin. Once the Contact Importer plugin is activated and configured - the Facebook and Google icons will appear on the User Dashboard page.

By clicking these icons, a user will be able to select friends from the list and invite them to join the site.

How to turn the Maintenance page off/on?

If you want to hide your site from public view, you can enable the Maintenance page.

With the maintenance page enabled, you can access your Admin Area through this link: http://[your_site_URL]/sign-in/¹⁾

To turn it off/on, you should go to Admin area > Pages > Special Pages > Maintenance Page and check/uncheck the Disable your site and put up the maintenance page box.

How to manage the languages on the site?

You can edit the existing language values in the Edit Language area.

How to edit the text on the site?

All text you see on the site is located in the Languages section. The Language functionality is based on the keys system. Every key has a value and is located in a certain category. For example, if you want to edit the values related to the Photo plugin, choose Photo from the Show: list.

To edit the mail templates, enter the “Dear” word to the OR field and click Go.

The list of all mail templates will show up. Edit the text and click the Save this page button.

How to add or delete the language keys?

If you want to add your custom text to the site, follow the link: http://[your_site_URL]/admin/dev-tools/languages¹⁾

This URL will open the page with Add New Text button, click on it.

Choose a section, enter the key name and value and click the Add button.

To delete a key, follow the link: http://[your_site_URL]/admin/dev-tools/languages²⁾

Hover the mouse pointer over the key that should be deleted and click the Delete button.

Note: Be careful with deleting the language keys: if you remove some default key, it may cause the issues on the site.

To find the particular language key, follow the link: http://[your_site_URL]/admin/dev-tools/languages³⁾

Enter the key name to the Or field, check the in keys box and click Go

You can import, export edit the existing languages values in the Available Languages area.

How to upload a language pack?

To upload a language pack, you should do he following:

1. Download the language from your Oxwall Public Forum.

2. Go to Admin area > Settings > Language > Available Languages > Add New Language (Language Pack) > Language File: section.

3. Click the Browse button.

4. Upload the language file from your device.

5. Click the Add button.

The list of all plugins' translation will appear.

6. Check the Check all languages for all plugins box.

7. Click the Import selected button.

The language will appear in the Inactive Languages section.

8. Click the Activate button to set the language as active.

To set the language as default, hover the mouse pointer to the language, drag it and drop to the first position.

To enable the right-to-left direction, hover the mouse pointer over the language.

Check the RTL box and click the Edit button.

How to translate my site to another language?

You can easily translate your site to any language you want. You should go to Admin Area > Settings > Language > Available Languages tab. At first you should clone the existing language. You will see the Clone by moving the mouse cursor over the language.

Then export it.

Click the Export button, select all sections and click the Export selected button.

This way you will get the .xml file. You should change it and then add it using the Add New Language (Language Pack) section.

Or you can simply clone the default English language, and edit it directly from your Admin Area.

To make your custom language default - drag it and drop to the first position.

How to backup the language?

You can easily back up the existing language in the Admin area > Settings > Language > Available Languages > Export languages section.

Click the Export button.

If you want to export the language for some plugins only, check the boxes next to the required plugins.

To export all language items, check the box above the language name.

Click the Export selected button.

How to delete/deactivate the language?

To disable the existing language, hover the mouse pointer to the language click the Deactivate button ⁴⁾.

The language will move to the Inactive Languages section.

To delete a language, hover the mouse pointer to the language click the Delete button.

How to change site's meta tags?

Meta tags can be configured in Admin area > Settings > Language. All meta tags are located under the Navigation section. To see all language keys in this section select Navigation from drop down > Do not enter any keywords > Click Go:

Tag: Title

Go to Admin area > Settings > Language > Search by Find Dates Here keywords.

Text key to edit: {text key='nav+page_default_title'} .

Default value: {$site_name} - Find dates here! Where {$site_name} is the your site name set in Admin area > Settings > General > Site Name.

Meta tag: Description

Go to Admin area > Settings > Language > Select Navigation from the drop down menu > Search by Community keyword:

Scroll down to the Navigation section.

Text key to edit: {text key='nav+page_default_description'}

Default value: {$site_name} community. Where {$site_name} is the your site name set in Admin area > Settings > General > Site Name:

Meta description for custom pages

You can add meta description to custom static pages when adding/editing pages in Admin area > Pages > Manage Pages.

Enter meta description in following format:

<meta name=“description” content=“description goes here”>

Additional meta tags

You can add additional meta tags such as meta keywords in Admin area > Settings > Page Settings > Custom head code section. Anything entered into this section will be displayed before the closing </head> tag.

For example, to add meta keywords, enter the following meta information into this section: <meta name=“keywords” content=“keyword1, keyword2, keywordN”>

My site is password protected and I do not remember the password. How can I restore it?

If you make your network password protected, and then happen to forget the password - you can easily access your Admin Area through this link: http://[your_site_URL]/sign-in

1. Login to your site using the admin access details. Then you can go to Admin Area > Settings> User Settings > Privacy.

2. There you can change the value for the Guests can view the site field, or simply enter a new password and click the Save button.

How to manage Profile Questions?

You can change (add/edit/remove) the profile questions on your site via Admin Area > Users > Profile Questions.

How to add a new profile question?

1. Go to Admin Area > Users > Profile Questions

2. Scroll down and click the Add Question button.

3. Enter the profile question name and description
4. Select the account type¹⁾
5. Select section for the profile question
6. Select the type of question in the Answer type field

There are 11 types of profile questions:

Text - one-line text box
Single choice Optimized (Faster results, limited values) - circled checkboxes

The limit for the number of values is 31. This question type is optimized to provide the search, matchmaking results faster.

Single Choice - Regular (Slower results, unlimited) - circled checkboxes

You can add the unlimited number of values to this question. This question type requires more time to return the results for search, matchmaking.

Extended text - text area for a longer text
Yes/No - single check box (e. g. I agree with TOS field)
Single choice (dropdown) - a dropdown box with only one selection possible
Multiple choice - multiple boxes with several selections possible
Date - a general date field with day, month, year values (12/12/12/)
Date (Birthdate) - a general date field with day, month, year values. The value is replaced by the date on the Profile View page (12 Dec)
Date (Age) - a general date field with day, month, year values. The value is replaced by the y/o on the Profile View page (21 y.o.)
URL - one-line text box. Users have to enter the correct URL value for it to be replaced by the link.

7. Select the columns count ²⁾
8. Check Required box if the question should be required
9. Select the page the question should be displayed on
10. Click Save.

Note: The limit for the number of values for the Single choice and Multiple choice types is 31.

How to edit an existing profile question?

You can see a page with profile questions and their information³⁾ in the Profile Questions section.

This page is divided into two sections:

Account Types ⁴⁾ - here you can see the list of account types and profile questions available for this or that account type. This interface allows you on-fly switching the account type for any profile question;
Properties - here you can see the list of the profile questions and pages the profile questions are available on.This interface allows you on-fly removing/adding the profile question from/onto this or that page without necessity of editing the profile question.

If you need to edit the profile question name/description or other settings, you should move the mouse cursor over the profile question and click Edit

For example, if you don't want the Real name question to be displayed on the Profile View page, follow the steps below:

1. Go to Admin Area > Users > Profile Questions
2. Move the mouse cursor over the Real name question - the Edit button will appear.

3. Click on it.
4. Uncheck the On Profile View field and click Save.

Note: Some (core) profile questions cannot be removed/added from/to the pages due to the dependence of the basic software functionality of these profile questions. So the possibility to remove/edit these profile questions is disabled in the Admin area.

Here is the list of the profile questions and their positions(disabled positions are marked):

How to delete an existing profile question?

To delete the profile question, you should go to Admin Area > Users > Profile Questions and click the Delete button.

For example, if you want to delete the Here for question from your site, follow the steps below:

1. Go to Admin Area > Users > Profile Questions
2. Move the mouse cursor over the Here for question
3. Click the Delete button.

Note: Some (core) profile questions can't be deleted, but if you don't need them, you can hide them from displaying and editing. This will effectively remove them from the site.

How to manage Account Types?

Account Types feature allows you to configure different types of users' profiles by creating different sets of the profile questions.

Create a new Account Type

To add a new account type, follow these steps:

1. Go to Admin Area > Users > Profile Questions
2. Click the Add new link next to the Male column.

3. Enter the name of new account type and select the default User Role⁵⁾

Note: You can set the different default role for different account types. This role will be given to a user on the registration.

The newly created account type will appear next to the Male column.

Edit Account Type

1. Go to Admin Area > Users > Profile Questions
2. Move mouse cursor over the account type you are going to edit.
3. Move mouse cursor over the appeared arrow.
4. Click Edit.

5. Make changes⁶⁾ and click Save.

To delete the account type move mouse cursor over the account type, then over the appeared arrow and click Delete

How to manage user roles?

How to add a user role?

First of all you should create a user role.

Go to Admin area > Users > User roles > Add new role.

Enter the role name to the Role Name: field.

Click Add.

How to manage permissions?

You can assign permissions to the newly created role in the User role permissions area.

This page consists of the table with all actions available to the user roles.

Check the boxes next to the actions that should be available to the newly created membership.

Click Save.

How to edit user roles?

To edit the role name, click on it.

Enter the new name and click the Save button.

The default user role - role that is given to all users automatically after the registration. You can change position of user role using drag and drop.

The default user role for account types - site admin can set default user roles for each account type in Admin area > Users > Profile questions.

Hover your mouse over male/female account type > Click the arrow > click Edit.

Choose the default role and click the Save button.

When a user registers on your site they will get the site default role and the default role assigned to his account type.

No matter what role you set to the account types, the Free role will always remain default. So the global default role prevails over the default role of the account type and the user has two roles: the default role and the role assigned to their account type.

How to add a user role icon to users' thumbnails?

In order to add a user role icon to users' thumbnails, you should take the following steps:

1. Go to Admin Area > Users > User Roles

2. There you will the list of existing roles, some stats on a number of users with this or that role, and a Label on avatar column with the No value for it.

3. You should click the No value. This will open the icon edit box.

4. Check the Display role label on avatar box. Choose the desired color, and click the Submit button.

How to change the user's role on the site?

To change the role of the user, go to the user's page as a site admin.

Click the Moderation link.

Click the Change role link.

Choose a role.

Click the Submit button.

How to add a Welcome/Disclaimer page?

How to add a Welcome/Disclaimer page?

To add a Welcome page with important information (welcome text, warning message, etc) that pops up to visitors the first time they open your site URL, you can use the Splash Screen page.

To activate the Splash Screen page you should go to Admin Area > Pages > Special pages > Splash Screen:

1. Check the Enable box.

2. Enter your text to the Text/HTML area.

Note: You can use either plain text or HTML wrapped text.

3. Edit the Enter button label.

4. Add your own 'Leave' URL ¹⁾

5. Click Save.

Note: The Splash Screen shows up when a users opens you site for the first time. The Splash Screen log is saved in the browser cookies, thus preventing it from showing up repeatedly for a particular visitor. But if the user logs out and closes the browser - the cookie logs are removed. Thus, when they open your site after that, they will see the Splash Screen again.
